What does it mean to be laced with grace?

If there is one thing that I wrestle with in being a Christian it is God’s grace. When I mess up I feel guilty and I don’t feel like I am living up to God’s potential for me. When I am doing good and having my daily devotions, etc. I feel like I am on track with my Christian walk.

But God’s grace says that

No mater what I do I can not make God love me more.
No mater what I do I can not make God love me less.

How can that be? Won’t that make people sin more if they know, no matter what they do God won’t love them any less. And if we are acting good by going to church or reading our bible, it does not make God love us any more.

No, because God’s love is a transforming love. He transforms the sinners heart to help them develop a desire to obey him.

Spurgeon (sermon 501) tells the story of a young man:

Here is a son who ran away from home. He enlisted for a soldier. He behaved so badly in his regiment that he had to be drummed out of it. He has been living in a foreign country in so vicious a way that he has reduced his body by disease. His back is covered with rags; his character is that of the vagrant and felon. When he went away he did it on purpose to vex his father’s heart, and he has brought his mother’s grey hairs with sorrow to the grave. One day the young lad receives a letter full of love. His father writes—”Return to me, my child; I will forgive you all; I will love you freely.”

No mater what I do I can not make God love me more.
No mater what I do I can not make God love me less.

Jesus has never stopped loving you.
You may have left him,
you may not have been living according to his will,
you may have failed at attending church for many years, or ever….
or feel like you have already sinned to much….

but if you were EVER a child of God’s…YOU ARE STILL HIS no matter what.

And if you have not been a child of God he says to tell you

“I will love them freely.”—Hosea 14:4.

“Whosoever believes on the Lord Jesus Christ shall be saved.” (John 3:16)
Come as you are; God will accept you as you are.

Heavenly Father if there is one person who is not sure, who does not have the confidence that they have been saved; I pray you will touch their heart and gently remind them that you love them so much you sent your son to die for them. There is nothing we can do (past, present, future) that will prevent you from loving us less or more. Thank you for your grace that you pour down upon our lives. Amen.

Transforming love is the key! When Christ enters a life, we cannot help but find our change. Who can explain the depths of such a marvelous love?!

I have to agree with you Laurel. God’s grace is still a mystery to me, but it good to know that don’t have ‘clean-up’ our act before we come to Him and ask for forgiveness.

    Be blessed my friend!!!!
