WHEN ALL SEEMS LOST, REJOICE IN THE LORD

“Though the fig tree should not blossom, nor fruit be on the vines, the produce of the olive fail and the fields yield no food, the flock be cut off from the fold and there be no herd in the stalls, yet I will rejoice in the LORD: I will take joy in the God of my salvation. GOD, the LORD is my strength; he makes my feet like the deer’s; he makes me tread on my high places.” Habakkuk 3:17-19 ESV

At this time in the Old Testament Babylon was completely destroying the land of Judah. Buildings were being destroyed, treasurers were being plundered, and farms and orchards devastated. The economy was falling apart and there was little to sing about.

BUT……God was still on His Throne and in complete control, He was still working out HIS DIVINE purposes for His people. Habakkuk could not rejoice in the circumstances, but he could rejoice in his God!

Habakkuk’s testimony reminds us of Paul’s words to Christians today: “Rejoice Always, pray without ceasing, in everything give thanks for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you” 1 Thess.5:16-18 NKJV

Habakkuk was not just “whistling in the dark to try to bolster his courage, He knew that God was his strength as well as the source of his courage, therefore he had nothing to fear.

Because of his faith in a GOD that is always on HIS THRONE Habakkuk began to encourage himself in the LORD by singing and praising GOD. What an example for us to follow! It reminds us of our LORD before He went to the cross and Paul and Silas in the Philippian dungeon. God can give us “songs in the night” If we will trust Him and see HIS GREATNESS.

Because of his faith in God, Habakkuk was able to stand and be as sure-footed as a deer; he was able to run swiftly and go higher than he’d ever gone before.

This is one reason why the LORD permits us to go through trials; they can draw us nearer to Him and lift us above the circumstances so that we walk on the heights with Him.

Dear Reader, always put your trust in GOD and always remember your best is HIS Will.

Those verses in Habakkuk are among my very favorite in God’s word- thanks for sharing .

This is such a timely message and reminder. Please pray with me for my sister who is going through a difficult time and finding it hard to see God’s will in it all right now. Thank you.
