Working on the Puzzle

Life can be so fragmented sometimes, like the pieces of a puzzle, there are many little parts that make up the whole of a life. The pieces in my life of wife, mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, daughter, sister, and friend, are all small parts of a bigger whole. Because I am a part of the puzzle, I don’t always see how it all fits together, but God does. He has designed my life, every single piece. In His plan it all fits together into the lovely picture He created it to be.

I recall watching my dad put a huge puzzle together while he was recuperating from a heart attack. He was frustrated because some of the pieces seemed to fit in places where it was apparent they didn’t belong. The shapes were right but the colors were wrong. He was contemplating tossing the whole thing, when he finally figured out where the pieces were designed to fit properly. I’m glad he didn’t give up and throw it away because he had invested a great deal of time on it and the end results were quite beautiful.

Some days I get frustrated too. Thinking the pieces of my life aren’t fitting together the way they should. Sometimes I’m trying to make a piece fit where it doesn’t belong. The truth of the matter is, I didn’t make the puzzle – God did. I would be wise to do as my dad did and keep looking at the picture on the box. Or in my case, the instructions in the book God gave me, the Bible. Then prayerfully move the pieces around until they fit into their designated places. I know in the end it will be worth all the time invested in getting it right, as God unfolds His plan and reveals His work of art within the puzzle of my life.

How about you? Do you feel fragmented sometimes? Trust Him with the pieces of your life, He sees the whole picture.

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will direct your paths.” Proverbs 3:5-6

Yes, life does seem like a puzzle sometimes. Great reminder to look at our instruction book, the Bible to keep us focused.
