A Centerpiece

I was looking for something special to put on my table for an upcoming fundraiser dinner. A centerpiece that would bring out my theme and complete the idea I had in my head of what I wanted the table to look like. The only problem was it seemed like the picture I had in my head didn’t exist anywhere else. I couldn’t find what I was looking for in any of the stores I traveled through, or in any of the overfilled closets in my house.

I began to panic as the days passed and I still had no centerpiece. The table just wouldn’t look complete without one. It would be apparent that something was missing. While thinking about my situation it dawned on me that a comparison could be made between my table dilemma and what happens in a person’s life that doesn’t have Christ at the center. It just doesn’t seem to work well. It’s missing something important that completes every other area.

“For in him we live, and move, and have our being.” – Acts 17:28

He wants to be the centerpiece in each of our lives, the special one that gives us a theme and pulls everything else together. He doesn’t want to take any other place but center, and that’s the position where He will receive the most glory, and the place where He will be seen in everything else we do. Without Him it’s obvious something important is missing.

Finding a centerpiece for my table is a small thing compared to making sure I’ve made Him the center of my life. How about you…

Is He holding that place in your life?
