Dots of light

Do you ever wake up in the middle of the night? What do you notice as your eyes travel around the room? If I am awakened in the night, get up to check on our sleeping son, or just can’t seem to sleep for some reason, I notice all the little tiny dots of light on all our electronic gadgets around the house. They are in every room: on the Wii system, DVD player, charging cell phone, smoke alarm, and telephone answering machine. My eyes are drawn to these little lights amidst the darkness of the night. Sometimes I look at them and watch them flash on and off. As long as our electricity is running, those dots are lit up.

Those little dots are not by any means lighting up an entire room. But they do stand out and you at least take note of them as you pass through a room at night.

We live in a dark world. Darkness surrounds us all the time. Sometimes we realize we are amidst the darkness; other times we just go on living our lives unaware of it. We are called to be lights (Matthew 5:16). Just as your eyes notice the little dots of light letting you know you have charging electronics, we should live our lives in such a way that those in the dark will notice we have something different.

Stand out as a light to your corner of the dark world. You may not feel that what you do matters or feel you may not be able to influence thousands for Christ. Your light does make a difference though. Someone is going to notice whether you realize it or not. You need to always be plugged in to the Power Source so that others will see His light.

“For you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Live as children of light.” Ephesians 5:8

Have a day of blessings!

Amen, Bethany. It is so true that in the manner we live and talk, others will notice. May my words and actions always point to Him and let His light shine.

    Thank you for the reminder.

Great Word today Bethany! We are the light in a dark world. But we got to turn the switch on so His light can be illuminated for all to see! 🙂

Great post…Even the tinest spark can ignite the darkness and when we work together, the tiny sparks produce a beacon of bright, blinding love-light
