The Power of Prayer

There is so much power in prayer.  What a gift to be able to come before the Lord.  Through Jesus we can boldly come before the throne of grace.  What a privilege!

I think of the song “What a Friend We Have in Jesus”.  The lyrics have such meaning to me.

What a friend we have in Jesus,
all our sins and griefs to bear.
What a privilege to carry
everything to God in prayer.

Have we trials and temptations?
Is there trouble anywhere:
We should never be discouraged;
take it to the Lord in prayer.
Can we find a friend so faithful
who will all our sorrows share?
Jesus knows our every weakness;
take it to the Lord in prayer.

Are we weak and heavy laden,
cumbered with a load of care?
Precious Savior, still our refuge;
take it to the Lord in prayer.
Do thy friends despise, forsake thee?
Take it to the Lord in prayer!
In His arms He’ll take and shield thee;
thou wilt find a solace there.

Jesus cares about our concerns.  He wants us to come to Him even though He already knows all that’s going on in our lives.

  • When life seems uncertain, you have a place to go.
  • When sickness and trials invade your life and those you love, there is One who cares.
  • When your finances are in an upheaval, take your concerns to the Lord.
  • When your child is in rebellion, turn to God and trust Him with your child.

No matter what the problem or concern, He is able to help.  The answers aren’t always as we anticipate and that’s where trust comes in.

May we always run to the One who has all the answers.  Take it to the Lord in prayer.

Blessings and love,

    Amen to that, Debbie. Like you said, the answer may not be what we hoped for, but I know that everything is in God’s hands and He knows best.
