You are Wanted

Two weeks ago I got a call from one of my former “little sisters” who is now married with a new baby.  She wanted me to come see her new baby which I happily did.

“My baby is so smart.  Do you know he only cries when he’s hungry?  He’s such a sweet baby…”

I smiled as she went on about her baby knowing that the little boy was so wanted and loved.  She and her husband had eagerly planned for and awaited the arrival of this little one.  They had made such preparation that the moment he arrived he had everything he needed, clothing, shelter, food and loving arms to hold him close, comfort him, dry his tears and love him unconditionally.

 14 But
Zion said, “The LORD has forsaken me,
       the Lord has forgotten me.”

15 “Can a mother forget the baby at her breast
and have no compassion on the child she has borne?
       Though she may forget,
       I will not forget you!

 16 See, I have engraved you on the palms of my hands;
your walls are ever before me.
Isaiah 49:14-16

I watched my young friend tenderly and lovingly care for her new baby. I cannot imagine her and her husband not meeting his every need if it’s within their power to do so.  I can’t imagine her not loving him and caring for him.  I definitely cannot imagine her forgetting him.  Yet God’s word says uses a mother as example in Isaiah 49:15 part of which reads,  though she may forget, I will not forget you!

This vivid illustration in Isaiah shows us the unlikelihood of God ever forsaking us or forgetting us. He loves us so much he has us engraved in the palms of his hand.  We are always foremost on his mind. Those two arms are stretched wide open, waiting… perhaps for you?  Those hands have lovingly prepared a place for us with everything we’ll ever need. Can you imagine being so wanted? So loved?

I heard a preacher say once, “You are the only thing God has ever wanted.  He gave the most precious thing he had for you.., his only son.”

For God so loved the world tht he gave his one and only Son that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.John 3:16

Just thinking about it makes me feel special.   I stand in awe that He loves me and gave his Son for me, not because he had to but just because…

Bernadine–I loved that! Knowing that our names are written on the hands of my Lord!—what in incredible thought!
This was such an encouragement—-after yesterday…girl I so needed this!
