It’s all about the Attitude

I can do all things through him who strengthens me.
(Philippians 4:13 ESV)

Times are hard for many people is this country and around the globe. Money is tight, bills need to be paid. People are afraid that they might loose their job tomorrow or the next day. Moral is at an all-time low in a lot of work-places.

I am typically a very positive, happy person. I try to see the good in every challenge that is set before me. One of the things I have at my workplace is a 6×6 canvas designed by Holley Gerth. I love it!!! You see, the canvas is based on my life-verse Philippians 4:13.

Philippians 4 is for me one of the most positive chapters in the New Testament. I guess that is why I have made Philippians 4:13 my life-verse.

When Paul wrote the letter to the church in Philippi, he was imprisoned. However, even though he was in prison, he encouraged the church and he had a positive attitude about his circumstances. He writes in Philippians 4:4-7 (ESV):

“Rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say, rejoice. Let your reasonableness be known to everyone. The Lord is at hand; do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”

We may not be in a physical prison, but we may have build our own prison with fear. I know it is easier said than done, but maybe we need an attitude adjustment and take Paul’s advice to heart…”Rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say, rejoice…”

Lord of Heaven and Earth. Help us to rejoice in You, always!!! Let Your peace, which surpasses all understanding, guard our hearts and minds in Christ Jesus. Give us strength today and all the days until we see You face-to-face. In the precious name of Jesus. Amen.

I so agree that people create their own prison… Fears can be crippling. We must rejoice and praise God is all situations. Bless You!

Are you doing Thankful Thursday? I couldn’t find it last week 🙁

Philippians 4:13 is also one of my favorite verses. When I’m feeling low or being hard on myself, I need to tell myself that I can’t do everything. But God is here to help me. It’s good to direct our focus on God and the positives, instead of dwelling on what’s gone wrong.
Thanks for the reminder on this great verse!
