Mine

If you are a mother, then you’ve heard that word.  Probably more times than you wish to count.

“Mine.  It’s MINE!”  Sometimes said with vehemence, almost always with a passionate belief that it is true.  It’s mine!  Even pets have their own way of laying claim to what they perceive as belonging to them!  And watch those teeth if you try to change their way of thinking!

In a recent clean-up of my office, I came across a card and the bright yellow envelope simply stating, “My Angie”.

Of course you would think this came from my husband.  But it didn’t.  He does not have to “lay claim” on me, since I already belong to him–and have for the past 28+ years.  No, this card came from a friend.  A dear friend staking her claim to my heart as a sister.  Of course, she has been my heart friend/sister for over 10 years now, but the card was a declaration of her love and gratitude for God placing our lives on the same path all those many years ago.

Did you realize that God did the same thing?  Once we accepted Jesus as our Lord and Savior, He placed our names in a Book (Rev. 3:5), proclaiming His passionate love for us- insuring that we will spend all of eternity in His presence!  Staked His claim–and  shared the glorious news with the Angels!

As our children do much the same thing, sometimes very loudly, they are expressing their desire for that item or often times the “person”.  They will not be deterred.

Our heavenly Father wants that same loyal determination to be our hearts cry for Him.  He wants us to seek Him and only Him with all our hearts!  Turning aside from everything that would distract us or cause us to lose sight of the vision and purpose He planted in our hearts.  Seeking only Him.  To please only Him!  We are His!

Heart/Life Examination:

  • What are we clinging so tightly to that we cannot grasp His hand fully?  (Hebrews 12:1-2)
  • What is hindering our walk and eyesight?
  • How can we become more willing to follow Him?

I’d love to hear from you!

Until then you will find me,

Following Him,

Angie

There are many things in life that distract me; work for one thing. There are many days where I wish to just read, study and pray. I do make sure that I have at least a little time with Him each morning to fuel me with hope and His love.

Hebrews 12 has become one of my favorite passages over the last couple of weeks…

Thank you for sharing your wisdom and reminding us what is most important in life.

Angie, I love thinking of my name written in the Book of Life. How thankful I am that the Lord chose me for His own; my Debbie. WOW; that blows my mind.

Sometimes I get distracted by life; the day to day challenges. I have established a habit of a daily quiet time in the morning which helps me so much. But as the day proceeds, I can get preoccupied with many other things. My desire is to have that constant conscious communication with the Lord.

    Lovely post Angie!

    Blessings and love,
    Debbie

    Heart/Life Examination:

    * What are we clinging so tightly to that we cannot grasp His hand fully? I work hard at clinging to Jesus. On occasion I find myself clinging to the World. Then pulling away and grasping Jesus again.

    * What is hindering our walk and eyesight? Worldly temptations

    * How can we become more willing to follow Him? Focus on God

Ouch… I need to claim Him like that too! He has a hold of me… but I too often let go of my grip on Him… I think I can do all by myself… How foolish I am….

    God bless you MY Angie!
