It’s That Time Of Year Again

Well it’s that time of the year again; the dreaded time for those of us who wait last minute to write checks to both state and federal government for the taxes we owe. With each stroke of the pen we think about what else we could do with this money. We even sit and complain that the government doesn’t deserve our money. Some may even say, ‘What has the government done for me lately’.

Whatever our feelings may be towards our government; whatever our political views; whatever our religious affiliation; as citizens of our country and state, we all must render what belongs to our governments as well as unto our God.

So tonight, as I sign my name on the dotted line, and write the checks for the amount we owe to both federal and state government; may I do so with a grateful heart that I live in a country where I still have the freedom of speech, work, and choice of worshiping the One True God.

As citizens of this great country, may we also realize our right, privilege and responsibility to be informed citizens so we can daily pray for our government officials.

I Timothy 2:1-4 NIV
I urge, then, first of all, that requests, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for everyone– for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness. This is good, and pleases God our Savior, who wants all men to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth.

Here is a pdf of 30 Ways To Pray For People In Authority.

A very timely reminder. It’s also a cue for me to get my census out today! Whoops! A little behind on these things…

Well said Michele. We are so blessed to live in this country, and it is especially important now to pray for our leaders.

Great reminder! We are a blessed Country, I am reminded of that every time I go out of the country and see how poor other countries are. May we all remember to pray for our President and other leaders. We may not agree with them but it is our duty to pray for them!

Yes, we are to submit to the authority of the government in regard to our taxes. Thankfully though we didn’t owe any money this year!

I appreciate the pdf for ways to pray for those in government.

    Blessings and love,
